Dorothy Lee Gleisberg, of Shalimar, Florida, affectionately known as "Mimi" to her grandchildren unexpectedly passed away Oct. 12, 2005 while visiting relatives. She was 65 years old.

She was born in Patterson, Georgia on Nov. 3, 1939 to David and Elizabeth Nettles and raised in Claxton, Georgia with her three younger brothers, Larry, Lewis and Charles. After graduating high school, Dorothy earned her nursing degree in Savannah, Georgia and graciously cared for the ill in various positions ranging from school nurse to operating room nurse. Her loving bedside manner was a gift to her patients.

Dorothy met and married USAF Airman Raymond Gleisberg while in nursing school. They met at a U.S.O dance. She was an outstanding "military wife" who "served" along side CMSGT (Retired) Gleisberg the remainder of his career.

Several years after the "Chief" passed away, she met Andrew "Poppy" Lubic. Andrew and Dorothy spent many happy years together raising grandchildren, traveling, fishing and enjoying the special company of friends to include many who served in Andrew's WWII military unit, the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team.

Dorothy enjoyed attending the annual country music event "Fanfair" in Nashville with daughter Cathy, whom is friends with Kathy Mattea. Mattea honored Dorothy October 15th by dedicating her song "Time Passes By" to Dorothy at a concert in Statesboro, Georgia close to where Dorothy was born and raised. Twelve of Dorothy's family members were in attendance.

"Mimi" was very active in the lives of her grandchildren. Every holiday and summer the grandchildren would visit her. She enriched their lives immensely and enjoyed playing bingo, pinochle, slots, crosswords and computer games. She was a great cook whose favorites were pork roast and divinity. She made homemade wine and sauerkraut with Andrew. Dot loved her dogs, Shiloh, Sabrina and Suzy. She also enjoyed music from the 40s and 50s, margaritas and dancing.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cathy Gleisberg, of Shalimar, daughter Elizabeth May and granddaughter, Ashley of Merritt Island, Florida, daughter, Cindy Gleisberg and her daughters Cassie and Katie Wilcox of Enterprise, Alabama. Dorothy is also survived by brothers Lewis and Charles Nettles, of Claxton, Georgia and sisters, Ann Webb of Metter, Georgia and Pam Tippins of Statesboro, Georgia.

A private ceremony will be held off the shore of Ft. Walton Beach to honor Dorothy at the same location where Andrew was honored after he passed May 2005. She will also be remembered by spreading her ashes at sea off Cocoa Beach where she enjoyed years of Sundays in the waves with her children as they were growing up and at Arlington Cemetery where Raymond was laid to rest.
